Israel – Dan Panorama Tel Aviv

Working all week just North of Haifa having to negotiate the Kvish Shesh, Route 6, from Rehovot each day for at least 2 hours in each direction, Thursday evening saw me being dropped off by my chaperone in Tel Aviv for some well-earned and much needed rest. My hosts thoughtfully recommending the beach-front Dan Panorama Tel Aviv and booking me a room on the executive floor.

Room 1610.

My room on the 16th floor

Lovely, warm and friendly welcome at check-in, joking with me that I should have checked in upstairs in the Executive lounge, something to remember for my next visit, and within minutes of arriving I was opening my room door on the 16th floor.

Nice sized room. Well decorated and nicely furnished. Well stocked mini-bar. Good sized bathroom with nice shower and again, good thick towels. Lighting was confusing though with an array of switches that seemed to control all sorts of lights around the room with some of the switches being replicated bedside too, but again, not obvious which switch controlled which light. Good sized desk and comfy office chair to keep up with office work when needed, but the in-room WiFi was a little sporadic in its strength forcing me to either sit by the door for FaceTime/Skype conversations or decanting to the Exec Lounge up on the 18th floor, but for regular email etc, it was fine and FREE.

My balcony view was a delight too giving me a sweeping vista of the park, the beach, blue sea and Old Jaffa which sparkled like a jewel at night.

Up on the 18th floor the Executive lounge was a delight. Calm, peaceful and well stocked it was a haven to retreat to in the evenings and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Edward who sorted out several room related problems for me.

Breakfast in the main dining area, which was really nicely decorated, was truly immense having a huge and extensive selection of hot/cold food. Great choice of different bread and rolls which was a nice touch, good selection of cereals too, pretty much something for everyone.

Building work, or refurbishment, was ongoing during my stay, with most of it being performed during regular working hours, so noise and disruption was minimal. I certainly wasn’t aware of it or disturbed by it. My floor was having it’s hot water system re-plumbed, but workmen were courteous and kept the corridors passable and usable.

Overall a really great stay and somewhere that I would return to in a heartbeat and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Tel Aviv.

PROS: Great location. Great atmosphere. Warm and friendly staff. Brilliant Exec Lounge.

CONS: Aircon was mostly ineffective. WiFi could be stronger.
