Reykjavik Treasure Bed & Breakfast – Iceland

Hearing that Iceland has a reputation for being very expensive we were very keen to find an affordable hotel that included a good breakfast. After much searching of hotels we switched our search to bed and breakfasts and stumbled upon Reykjavik Treasure. This traditional style home is 2 minutes’ walk from the Main Square and Airport Bus stop but far enough away to not be disturbed by street noise. Our room was up on the top floor nestled in the eaves, making headspace a little limited especially in the bathroom but as this was only a sleeping place it really wasn’t a problem. Freedom to use the downstairs living spaces meant the smallness of the room was irrelevant. It felt like being in a friend’s home and their breakfast was so filling we didn’t need to worry about stopping for lunch. There was no in-room tea/coffee making facilities though but the kitchen was always available which was actually better and far more sociable.

PROS: Close to the city centre. Wonderful friendly hosts. Spotlessly clean. Huge variety at breakfast. Use of downstairs living space and kitchen.

CONS: Room small but warm and perfectly adequate. May need to request room on lower floor if you are tall and are likely to spend a lot of time in your room.
