Tucked just meters off of Muntri Street, this hotel was previously a terrace of workers houses, now tastefully converted in to an oasis of calm amongst the bustle that is Georgetown. There is limited street parking but be warned, this is more like playing life size Tetris with cars! Arriving late, our check-in was efficient and friendly including an escort to our room up on the first floor to ensure everything was to our liking. The original two-storey houses have been turned into two large rooms – one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. The ground floor rooms are accessed through the original entry doors which lead from a gated communal garden. The first floor rooms are accessed from a balcony along the rear of the building which overlooks a walled garden. Above the reception and adjacent to the first floor balcony is an open air kitchen/breakfast area and a lap pool. The bedroom was huge with shuttered windows at the rear overlooking the courtyard garden below. A large, mosquito-netted bed dominated the rear of the room and a seating area (large day bed, table and chair) was positioned in front of the main window by the door. The bathroom consisted of two separate small rooms (one for toilet and the other a shower) with a vanity on the outer wall. Breakfast was served by the pool with a combination of buffet and cooked-to-order. Staff were very attentive but discrete which made for a perfect start to each day. Although the kitchen was only manned over breakfast, water was always available from the cooler and fresh fruit was left on the countertop throughout the day. This hotel was faultless and staff went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. On our last day a drunk driver had hit our hire car overnight, without disturbing us they had contacted police and completed all paperwork before we even rose for breakfast. They arranged for the hire car company to come to us and replace the car as well as translating for us. As we left, our car had been blocked in again but, without hesitation, a member of staff hopped in and quickly (and magically) maneuvered it out.
PROS: Perfect location. Large, airy rooms. Staff helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast choices allow for all tastes.
CONS: Parking difficult. No restaurant on site.
