Marakech – Friday

Whoops, we overslept, waking up at 10:30!

After a swift shower we headed upstairs to the roof terrace for breakfast. Luckily the RIAD have no fixed end to their breakfast time, so we sat in the sunshine and enjoyed a lovely breakfast.

Leaving the peace of the Riad we headed out in to the sunshine of the day for some sightseeing.

First stop of the day was the Bahia Palace, which was really close to our Riad. Saw some conflicting information on whether it was actually open or not, but we gave it a shot. Looking lost a guy approached us asking where we were going, we told him the Bahai Palace, he checked his watch saying it was closed for Friday prayers, so we thanked him and went on our way, turning the corner and finding the palace entrance, open for business! Tickets were 70 Moroccan Dirham each, about £5.50.

Our leisurely stroll around the souks was hijacked, finding ourselves being whisked through the medina to visit a tannery and a leather goods shop, rather than the Berber market we were promised, then we were expected to pay DM200 for the privilege!

Lovely meal on the roof of a restaurant watching the sunset turning the sky wonderful shades of orange and purple!

Ending our busy day back on the roof terrace of the Riad with a cold beer gazing at the stars.
