Malaysia – Seremban

The final stop on our Malaysian adventure is The Dusun.

Billed as a unique hideaway and with only six houses, it sounded perfect. We hoped it would give us some quality time together, which is something that is hard to get when at home with both of our work commitments mostly taking priority.

The Dusun sits high up on a hillside tucked away in an orchard on the edge of the Berembun Forest, cut off from the outside world and with us having no phone or WiFi connection we instantly became uncontactable. Relaxing was easy. Sleeping when the sun went down, waking when it rose. Swimming in the adjacent pool when it got hot. We read. We talked. We dozed. We simply loved it. We opted for a couple of their food options, having a local Nyonya pineapple curry delivered to our villa one evening, followed by a BBQ for the second evening. Breakfast was taken on a communal patio, or if you wanted complete isolation you had an outdoor kitchenette to cook your own food.

With no air conditioning we had concerns about keeping cool, but with an open plan villa and a ceiling fan, it wasn’t an issue.

Our deck view was of the surrounding rainforest and with patio furniture organised to take in this breathtaking view, it was pretty much a perfect location. Sitting reading in the shade and then glancing up to be wowed by the surroundings was a common thing and several times we almost pinched ourselves as it all seemed a little unreal.

Visits from the owners dog and a couple of cats helped with the chilled, relaxed atmosphere too. Even a massive thunderstorm during our first night didn’t detract from its idyllic feel and we felt safe and dry inside our villa.

It’s very hard not to keep on about just how perfect this place is and The Dusun fitted our exacting criteria for a relaxing and secluded end to our holiday, but we also understand that it might not appeal to everyone’s taste as it truly is cut off from the outside world.
