Malaysia – Melaka

Our plans for Melaka were to include an evening stroll around the old part of the town, followed by a lazy morning taking breakfast out somewhere before heading to our final stop in Seremban.

But, with Mrs Young having a massive reaction to the Malaria tablets that she was taking  things didn’t quite work out as we had planned. With an unscheduled very early morning visit to the local hospital and then returning to see a physician who, it turns out, had worked in Portsmouth; we only managed a brief walk in to the old quarter and a light meal in the Hard Rock Cafe, chosen soley as it was cool and aircon’d. Mrs Young wasn’t really feeling up to too doing very much else either.

What we saw of Melaka was lovely though. Strolling from the back of our riverside hotel and crossing into the the Chinese quarter, it was delightful. The Portuguese influence on the buildings and architecture was lovely with some uniquely coloured buildings. The Christ Church, in salmon pink, was lovely and very much like an English church in its decor.

Cutting our visit short, we once put our faith in Mr Garmin and headed off to our final stop, hoping that arriving early we would get a chance to relax in our rainforest hideaway.

Traffic was light, the journey easy and Mr Garmin managed to get us to the nearest village to our final stop of our vacation, the amazing Dusun. We were emailed instructions that took us through the town right up to the gate of their property pretty easily, although saying that, it is truly a hideaway and would be pretty impossible to find it unaided.

We were greeted warmly by Asmaq and shown to our villa, the Berenbam.

Our jaws dropped when we saw where it was positioned and the view that we would live with for our two night stay.
