Breakfast is included with our stay, having placed our order at check-in for a traditional Malaysian rice dish with coffee, tea and juice. It was served up bang on time on our veranda overlooking the pool. What a way to start the day !!
Then, just like Noel Cowards mad dogs and Englishmen, we again walked to KLCC, crossing the park and diving as quick as we could in to the cool reception of the Traders Hotel. No, this wasn’t a quick change of accommodation, but our daughter, Charlie, recommend taking the lift up to the 36th floor to the Sky Bar which not only serves quite probably some of the dearest drinks in KL, but it gives you probably the best and most spectacular view of the Petronas Towers from across the KLCC park. Sat in our little dugout by the panoramic windows we took in the view and also witnessed a lifeguard training session, where a swimming man who was in trouble was rescued by a loitering life guard. We were tipped off by a be-suited managerial-type gent not to panic! It’s only an exercise!
Drinks quaffed and suitably cooled we headed back down the lift and though the adjoining conference center picking up the cooled SkyWalk to Bukit Bintang shopping area. This walkway is to encourage people to walk across the city from one shopping area to another without the problem of getting boiled in the Kuala Lumpur heat and with the outside temperatures during our visit hitting the high 30’s, it was most welcome indeed. the SkyWalk deposits you in the food court of the Pavilion Shopping Mall, a really nice shopping center.
After a drink in ChaTime we headed back KLCC for lunch, Kaya toast and iced coffee in Old Town White Coffee. Some gentle shopping ensued before finding our way down to the ticket office to trade in our online tickets for real ones so that we could visit the viewing deck of the Petronas Towers. Our tickets were purchased in advance, which guarantees you one of the very limited number of spaces. Group sizes are small too, around 20 people, just one elevator full at a time. The visit was wonderful and the views over KL were pretty amazing. But, the viewing time was limited, around 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes tops. It looked like there were two groups up the tower at any one time. But despite the limited time this visit ticked off one of my personal ‘bucket list’ items. I’ve visited a lot of the worlds highest towers but despite visiting KL several times with business, I’ve never ben lucky enough to get a ticket before as the online ticket purchase is relatively new.
