The Stanley was pretty much the only hotel on that side of Athens that could accommodate me for a whole two weeks. My colleague had previously stayed nearby and had complained about pretty much everything to do with his hotel and without any other input to work on I chose The Stanley because 1, I liked the name and 2, the blue hued picture on their website was nice. Much preferring to book direct with hotels, I couldn’t get the whole two weeks I needed on their site, so had to revert to using booking.com who offered me the full two weeks.

Arriving early evening I wasn’t greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by the guy on reception, instead, making no eye contact he barely spoke, when he did it was clipped and abrupt and I was dismissed to my room with serious doubts about my choice of hotel.
My room was well furnished. Nice comfy bed. Bathroom had everything you could need. TV was lacking English channels. Good coffee maker with Lavazzo coffee pods. View was OK from my balcony, but it overlooked a street that got busy. Athenians eat out late, so there is some street noise late in the evenings.
Being a business trip I had an early start, my taxi picking me up at just after 6:30 to make the Perama ferry sailing at 7:15. No time for a hotel breakfast.
Back at the hotel in the evening, the staff I met were delightful, nothing like the guy on reception. Everyone I met during my entire stay, from bumping in to the cleaners, the bell boys opening the doors to the waiters in the restaurants all of them were delightful.
Breakfast, when I finally took one on Saturday morning was a huge and bountiful buffet, with pretty much everything you could wish for. Again, very friendly staff greeting you on the door.
Dining on their rooftop restaurant was good too. Nice selection of dishes, well cooked and well served.
Position of The Stanley was for me pretty much perfect. Being atop of a bakery, the Bread Factory, that sold the most delicious Greek pastries and savouries was a huge bonus. Also, being a walking distance in to the center of Athens was great too and I soon ticked off all the usual tourist attractions.
PROS: Great location. Friendly staff, despite the guy on reception. Comfy rooms.
CONS: Some noise from nearby club/restaurants. Area around hotel not brilliant, but OK.
