Ecuador – El Crater – Day 2

On waking we discovered that we still had no water and the next couple of hours revolved around lots of phone calls and many unfulfilled promises but finally resulted in us being refunded our stay and provided with a taxi to get to a hotel of our choosing. Using the restaurant  WiFi we found a nice hotel at a good price on hotels.com near the airport with our waiter at El Crater phoning to confirm that we could actually arrive earlier than their advertised check-in time. With our next hotel booked and taxi requested we headed back to pack our cases and were delighted to see that the clouds had lifted and the view we’d hoped to see was finally visible.

It was a real shame that the hotel was unable to fix the water problem as we would have loved to have stayed to enjoy it. But our taxi arrived and unceremoniously we headed off to our final destination, San Jose del Puembo.

We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome, checked in and somehow we’d been upgraded to a ‘superior’ room that overlooked the peaceful wooded garden. Our room was huge, exeptionally clean and had a bathroom that was stocked with a host of wonderful products. Both of us indulged in getting cleaned up making full use of the wonderful power-shower.

Cleaned and refreshed, we walked around the garden enjoying the peace before dining in the restaurant. The food here was lovely and the staff amazingly friendly.
