Cambodia 2022

In any ‘normal‘ year we’d have be heading out to the US of A as soon as Mrs Y was out of school, but unfortunately, with my online ESTA application being declined, and no chance of an early embassy visit in sight either, things are different this year.

Yeah, we weren’t expecting that, so we had to think and act quickly to do something else, with that something else being this Cambodia trip, with all flights, hotels and an outline sightseeing agenda all coming together in just 10 days.

After the enforced travel break due to the Worldwide COVID shutdown, we’re once again travelling and finally heading out on our first BIG travel adventure. Having had this Asian adventure postponed three times, we modified our original agenda, dropping Thailand altogether and just exploring all that Cambodia had to offer.

Phnom Penh – here we come!

Our Thai Airways flight left Heathrow exactly on time, making our connection through Bangkok airport an easy ‘hop’ and Thai Smile had us on the tarmac in Phnom Pehn bang on time.

First task once outside the terminal was to grab a local SIM card for our phone and for only $7 we had ourselves 40GB of data and local calls from Metfone, more than enough for our two weeks in Cambodia.
Our pre-arranged airport transport didn’t materialise but we were soon in a TukTuk bouncing our way through the city towards the Pavilion. With an early arriving flight we arrived four hours ahead of the official check in, but we were made very welcome and we were free to use the pool and the restaurant before finally getting our key and shown to our room.
