Back on the road – Busan to Deajeon.
Taking the metro from Haeundae Beach back to Busan Station we grabbed some snacks and drinks on the concourse then boarded the KTX train for Deajeon, departing exactly at noon as scheduled.
Our KTX service briefly clocked 200mph on the journey, not that it actually feels like you’re traveling that fast, and at 1:35 the train slid in to Deajeon Station. We soon found the nearby metro line that then dropped us at City Hall station, just yards from our hotel, the Dunson Greytone.

Attempting to check in just 50 minutes ahead of the official check in time, we were told by the very polite guy that it would cost us an extra KWN10,000, he refused to negotiate, so we popped to the adjacent Honey Beans coffee shop instead and had a quick brew.

Having checked it, finally, our room was more than adequate for our stay.
We popped out to get our bearings and to explore the area but there was little to see, the area seemingly populated by government offices, police headquarters and major Korean company offices. We feared that we’d made a bit of an error in choosing Daejeon. Finding the Arboretum, we headed back as we wanted to save this for our second day, we instead stopped for a coffee and a cake on our way back in a department store.
After a siesta we popped out looking for food. Reception were unable to recommend a single restaurant to us, despite there being TWO of them in our building, not a good start, but after searching locally we ended up dining in a pizza restaurant. Not the best choice of food. Why go to Korea to eat Chicago pizza ???
