Having an 07:30 flight out of Gatwick we looked at several possible options:
1. Get up before the crack of dawn, drive to Gatwick and cough up for long term car parking.
2. Find a local hotel that offers car parking too.
During this search we discovered that the Bloc Hotel Gatwick Airport offered us a cracking deal. They have rooms really close to the airport – like, IN the terminal close. And the price for the room included valet car parking too.So, we booked up for a night in Gatwick’s South Terminal.
Valet parking was a doddle. Drive in to the red car park, drop the keys off in reception and walk across the road into departures. Simple.
Reception at the Bloc Hotel is opposite Cafe Nero just before security. It’s well signposted too.
Warm and friendly welcome from the guy on the desk and an upgrade to a window room too. Our room was small, but that’s what Block is about. The lights, blinds and air conditioning etc. are controlled by a tablet on the bedside table; it’s a little fiddly, but it worked ok.
Wet-room shower was neat, all very compact; just make sure you don’t leave the toilet roll exposed as everything gets wet when you shower!
Bed was comfortable.
The room was clean and despite being in an airport, it was quiet too.
Just two bottles of water in the room but there is plenty of choice available in the airport and the Bloc welcome booklet has discount coupons to a lot of outlets.
Overall I was dead impressed and would highly recommend it if you have an early departure from Gatwick.
